Starting from January 30th, 2024, the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Core is now acceptable for all immigration pathways, except the Student Direct Stream (SDS) which is for Student Permit process.
The PTE Core is computer-based and evaluates English proficiency, including speaking, writing, reading, and listening, within a relatively short duration of 2 hours. It consists of a combined speaking and writing section for 50 minutes, a reading section for 30 minutes, and a listening section for 30 minutes. Moreover, due to AI scoring, it takes 24-48 hours to receive results, offering the advantage of obtaining results quickly. Additionally, with testing conducted at 400 locations worldwide, it is easily accessible to many individuals.
Since the PTE ‘Core’ has been specifically designed for immigration purposes, it’s still unclear how its difficulty compares to IELTS and CELPIP. However, as it focuses on real-life scenarios, it’s expected to offer a manageable level of difficulty.
