We are excited to share an update from Canada Immigration regarding caregivers.
As the existing Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot are set to end on June 17, a new Caregiver Pilot program has been announced.
According to the announcement, unlike the previous program that required one year of work experience in Canada, the new program grants caregivers permanent residence (PR) upon arrival in Canada.
More detailed criteria will be announced later, but the disclosed requirements for the new program are as follows:
- attain a minimum of level 4 based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
- hold the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma
- have recent and relevant work experience
- receive an offer for a full-time home care job
Previously, those without a work permit as a caregiver had to apply for a work permit simultaneously when applying for immigration, often resulting in a frustrating 2-3 year wait for the permit to be issued.
Now, with permanent residence granted upon entry, this is fantastic news for those considering caregiver immigration! 🙌🙌
