While the typical processing time for spouse sponsorship immigration (conducted within Canada) as indicated on the federal immigration website is around 10 months, this case received PR Portal in just 5 months and 26 days.
In this case, it was a very challenging one, but the PR approval came through quicker than we anticipated! The spousal applicant had a record of a DUI offense, however, fortunately, the offense became deemed rehabilitated under the law before it was amended in October 2018. During the applications for visas and permits, we consistently disclosed this DUI offense and reported it to IRCC. Hence, it seems that the federal authorities approved it without much suspicion.
