The category-based selection draws prioritize applicants who have work experience in specific occupations or possess specific language abilities.
the category-based selection draws are conducted by prioritizing applicants, who have a strong French language proficiency,
or work experience in the following fields:
- healthcare
- science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
- trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors
- transport
- agriculture and agri-food
there are certain conditions to be met:
- The applicant must meet the eligibility requirements for Express Entry (FSW, CEC, or FST).
- The applicant must have at least 6 months of continuous work experience in the specified occupations within the past 3 years, either in Canada or abroad.
- The applicant’s score must be equal to or above the cut-off score in the specific draw.
